We are a food obsessed, thirty something year old, married couple from Dublin. In September 2016 we became parents by welcoming Emma, our greedy little baby girl, into the world. Our second little girl, Amy, was born in 2019. Sadly, we don’t work in the food industry, instead software and pathology work consume too many hours of our week. We eat, we travel, we cook and then eat some more because this is what makes us happy. Our lives are based around meals and we think that is the way life should be lived. You have to eat three times a day so you may as well make the most of it, right?.
Some more stuff about us, rattled off in a random order. Here goes….
We think a phone at the dining table can be a bit rude, so you won’t see tweets or pics from the table from us. We used to write anonymous reviews of restaurants in Ireland and around the world. Our most read review was Mugaritz. Our most read Irish review was Aniar. We love to cook at home and don’t mind driving around for hours on a Saturday morning to buy good ingredients. We adore wine too, but don’t know an awful lot about it, but we are working on that. We are food bloggers and we think there are far too many food bloggers. We are Liverpool fans. We own a cheap sous-vide machine, which we love and use frequently. We have a dehydrator, which we only use to dry chips before frying them. We think critics who review a restaurant the minute it opens are cocks. In 2015 we ate out around 150 times. We are a modest two salary household with the lifestyle of a three salary household. One of us once blanked Rene Redzepi. We served sweetbreads at our wedding and guests ordered them thinking it was bread. We think there are too many food shows on TV and most of them are rubbish. For two years we wrote reviews and spelled palette as palate, oh no wait other way around. We believe people who are rude to waiting staff should be jailed and no-shows in restaurants should be on a blacklist. We are perplexed by anyone who takes reviews on TripAdvisor seriously. Meaningless terms like fusion and molecular gastronomy annoy us. We once ate over 45 courses, over 2 separate tasting menus, in one day – this was not a good idea. We got criticised for being anonymous and cowardly by someone with a fake name, using a fake email address and sent from a fake IP – smart! One of our most romantic meals was during a biblical storm in London and we were the only people in Koffmans. We try to make all our own bread. We got engaged in Paris and celebrated with a nice Bordeaux and a block of 48 month aged Comte.
That is about it really. Thanks for reading our site....
